Welcome to Align Health Careers Institute

The Nursing Assistant program prepares you to provide essential, compassionate care. Master infection control, emergency measures, assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLS), and basic nursing procedures. Nursing Assistants operate under the direction of licensed healthcare providers.    

🏥Nursing Assistant Program Overview

 This 110-hour program is designed to introduce and prepare students for the vital role of a Nursing Assistant. The course structure balances 60 hours of classroom theory, 10 hours of practical lab instruction, and 40 hours of supervised clinical experience in an approved offsite nursing home.


The primary objective is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required to uphold patient dignity and provide safe, effective, and person-centered care.


Key Learning Units & Objectives

The comprehensive curriculum covers:


  • Foundations of Care (20 Theory Hours): Provides a solid foundation in long-term care, resident rights, independence, effective communication, and understanding resident body systems and related conditions. Emphasis is placed on person-centered care principles.


  • Specialized Care & Basic Skills (20 Theory Hours): Focuses on managing and caring for patients with confusion, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. This unit also covers essential Personal Care Skills (assisting with ADLs), Basic Nursing Skills (including assessments), and the critical principles of Nutrition and Hydration. BLS per American Heart Association (AHA) is also integrated.


  • Professional Development (20 Theory Hours): Covers Rehabilitation and Restorative Care, emphasizing the role of the NA in helping patients achieve the highest possible level of independence. It also includes a crucial unit on Caring for Yourself to educate on the importance of self-care and a positive work-life balance.


Hands-on Practice:

  • Lab Practicum (10 Lab Hours): Students will practice hands-on basic nursing and personal care skills in a simulation lab on-site.
  • Clinicals (40 Clinical Hours): Students apply their learning and practice procedures offsite in an approved nursing home under supervision.

       

Program Highlights

🕰️ Duration: 110 total clock hours

🗓️ Completion Time:  5-6 weeks for day and evening hybrid courses

📝 Format: Hybrid (Classroom Theory, On-Site Lab Practice, and Off-Site Clinicals)

📅 Lab Location: All 10 hours of lab practicum and skills training are conducted on-site👩🏽‍🏫 Instructor-Led Training: Guided by experienced healthcare professionals

📚 Certification Prep: Prepares students to sit for the State Board Certification Exam to             receive a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) credential

✅ Completion Certificate: Awarded after successful program completion

🏥 Clinical Location: 40 hours completed off-site at an approved Nursing Home

👥 Student Ratio: Low 10:1 student-to-instructor ratio

📘 Required Textbook: Hartman's Nursing Assistant Care “The Basics” 

⏰ Schedule Options: DAY Hybrid: Mon, Wed, Fri (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)  

                                        EVENING Hybrid: Mon, Wed, Fri (5:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
